The Story of The Lipstick Gospel - StephanieMayWilson.com

The first time I ever saw scripture from the Bible was on the mirror in my sorority house- written in lipstick.ย

โ€œLook at the nations and watchโ€” and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” ~Habakkuk 1:5

ย The Lipstick Gospel is the story of my life.ย

***

The gospels are stories, written by ordinary people, about the most extraordinary man to ever walk the earth.

And itโ€™s my fundamental belief that thatโ€™s the way the Gospel is meant to be shared. Itโ€™s not certified people or boring people or uptight religious people that are meant to be sharing this story.

Itโ€™s us. Everyday people. ย Messy people. People who live extraordinary lives purely because He is extraordinary and loves extraordinarily.

And so this is my story, and His story. His story told through mine, and my story that's worth telling because of His.

The Lipstick Gospel is the story of a very messy sorority girl who met Jesus in a hung-over daze while studying abroad in Europe.

Itโ€™s the story of handing my life over to him, with the teeny tiny, whisper of a hope that He might have a better life for me than the one I was living.

Itโ€™s the story of getting swept up all over the world and taken on a journey more exciting, more daring and more fulfilling than anything I could have dreamed up on my own.

And itโ€™s the story of becoming the woman I was always meant to be.

My prayer is that as we walk this path together, you take steps on your own journey- discovering who God has made you to be and your place in His wild and beautiful story.

He has something wild and unpredictable and terrifyingly fabulous for you to do in His Kingdom.

Heโ€™s writing a story of redemption and hope and freedom and He wants you to be a part of it.ย

The Lipstick Gospel is a celebration of beauty and individuality and the process. Itโ€™s a place thatโ€™s real and authentic and raw- where trueย stories ofย redemption are told.

They're the kind of stories that are best told over coffee- the kind ofย conversations thatย remind you that you aren't alone.

The Lipstick Gospel is my story- and I pray that through my story- youโ€™ll begin to tell your own.

This is the Gospel. This is it lived out. We are the pen and the paper- my story just happened to begin in lipstick.

Where does yours begin?

Looks like a good idea and a good start. Bon voyage to this new blog!

  2. I loved reading this!! I found your blog on the homepage of the WR and I was instantly curious about the name here, Lipstick Gospel. After searching around on here for a while I finally found this story and it is beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. I love hearing how Jesus just sweeps people off their feet in the most profound, random, unexpected, awesome ways. Too bad we live far away from each other. I’d LOVE to get a cappuccino with you and talk about life. I also love hearing about everyone’s WR experience. Everyone’s seems to be SO different that it is impossible to put a label on what you will experience, how you’ll change, what you’ll see, and how you’ll relate to God. Thanks for sharing your story. I’ll probably look around here and read some more stories ๐Ÿ™‚ This might sound weird but one of my first thoughts on visiting your page was “How did she stay so gorgeous on the race!? I thought these people didn’t wear makeup, have nice clothes, or like, shower. Ever.” Anyway, I’m prayerfully considering going myself so I love hearing anyone and everyones story. Thanks for sharing girl ๐Ÿ™‚ (Btw, I love watching the Olympics and eating cookies every night too ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

  3. Stephanie!

this is one the most fun, touching and extremely down-to-earth thoughts I’ve seen on sharing the gospel.. and it really reminds me of how much God loves us, and definitely wants us to grow in our potential.

thanks for being the great reminder to so many like me, that god shouldn’t be just stuck in dusty pages of an untouched bible, but should be present in our daily stories, our lives and our thoughts.

God bless you dear stephanie! Have a beautiful new year (with plenty of pink, pretty things!)

    xoxo from Buenos Aires,
    felicia

  9. I have just found this blog, I love reading the stories of how God saves and then continues to work wonders! Lipstick on a mirror is certainly one of the more unique methods of conversion that I’ve heard. You have such a beautiful way with words – I’m so excited to follow you! Blessings x

  10. Reblogged this on Breathing in Belfast and commented:
If you are unaware, I am an avid blog reader. I hardly post on my blog, but I love to read other’s thoughts and challenges. This is a post from a blog I read everyday and it is exactly how I feel about my adult life. My brilliant housemate Sarah posted earlier this month about how what what we are doing RIGHT NOW is in fact, what we are doing with our lives. Your life is happening all around you.

What fun and crazy will you do with your life?

  11. Way cool! Some very valid points! I appreciate you writing this post
and also the rest of the website is really good.

  12. […] It was pink lipstick that introduced me to my first scripture from the Bible. Written on a mirror in my sorority house was Habakkuk 1:5, foreshadowing the way that beauty and the God behind it would transform my life. […]
