1. The crisp white pages of a new journal
There is just nothing like starting a new journal with its endless possibilities and fresh beginnings. The intoxicating smell and feel of flipping through the blank pages, imagining filling them with colored writing, laughter, hopes, dreams, tears, prayers, and adventures. It’s a blank slate, a clean start and it’s absolutely lovely.
2. Thanksgiving dinner
Seriously. This is my happiest of all happy meals. The meal I look forward to eating all year round. It is lovely, delicious, and I’m pretty sure it’s the meal that I will eat everyday in heaven. A plate piled high with fluffy stuffing, turkey, gravy, green bean casserole, bright red cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes with little cloud marshmallows …ah, heaven.
I truly, honestly believe that tears are one of the loveliest things in the world. They speak greater truth then any words I could ever find. They hold pain, they hold deep care, they hold laughter. I believe it is one of the rarest and purest forms of beauty on this earth and a true picture of how we are made in God’s image. God has a special connection to our tears. He says in His word that He collects our tears… they are beautiful and important to Him. I think they are so healing, so refreshing, so lovely.
4. Alone time
I live with 2 other girls and I love them dearly, but sometimes it’s just nice to have the house to yourself for a night. To get home from work on a Friday evening, change into sweats & a t-shirt, put your hair up, grab a blanket, a bowl of popcorn and a glass of white zinfandel, and pop in your favorite chick flick movie…and laugh and cry without worrying what anyone else will think or say (some of my personal favorite choices are The Sweetest Thing, The Holiday, Love Actually or Eat Pray Love). It’s absolutely lovely.
5. Napping to the sound of rain
This is one of the most perfectly lovely, wonderful luxuries that we get to enjoy while on earth in my opinion. To curl up to the sound of tapping and pitter-pattering on the window, against a grey sleepy sky, snuggling up deep under the comforters and falling asleep to the sound of water washing the earth clean and fresh
