1. Going anywhere with a puppy
On Sunday, I got a puppy. (he’s perfect and adorable and makes me so happy.) But one of the best parts of having him is taking him with me places. Everyone around me is so friendly and I get to bless them with the joy of meeting a cute little puppy. Large, tough men melt in front of my eyes, enchanted by my little man. It is seriously the best.
As hard as it can be, finally admitting that something is hard can be such a freeing, lovely experience. Last week I broke up with my boyfriend. But in law school, we are all competitive and closed off, so I hadn’t told anybody. When I finally confided in one of my friends, she said, “my boyfriend and I just broke up too.” Gosh, how silly for both of us to have built up walls around ourselves, feeling alone for no reason.
3. Fresh Flowers
I love the Farmer’s Market. But despite all of the delicious treats, amazing produce and excellent dipping sauces, I find myself drawn to the amazing rows of fresh flowers. Seeing the buckets all lined up and picking out a bouquet to bring home is just one of the best things. Flowers just have a way of making me feel so bright and happy!
I want to live in a museum, that is how much I love them. It is just so amazing to be in a place where you know that everything inside is special and unique. Plus museums always bait you, so that when you walk in one room, you can see three other rooms that you also want to explore. It is one of the best places to get lost in love.
5. Snail Mail
there is nothing quite like going to the mailbox and finding a card from someone other than the local pizza place. My mom was always great about sending me cards for St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Valentine’s Day and every other holiday. Now, one of my favorite things to do is to carry on this tradition and send letters to my friends via USPS. Nothing feels better than when they text me saying, “your letter made my day, it was just what I needed.”
Meredith is currently a law student at the University of San Diego. In order to keep up with all of the reading and writing associated with the study of law, she finds it is best to be caffeinated, and surrounded by an organized, practical but beautiful home. She write about making the most of the everyday on her blog. She loves the color pink, balloons, and seeing the world.
