1. Making plans
I am in a very transitional season of my life right now, one where everything seems to be getting ready for the “next step”. I’m not sure right now what the next step is going to look like, but the idea of having something to look forward to and all that possibility ahead is scary and exciting all at once. Having something to plan for gets my creative spark going, and inspiration seems to come from all over.
2. Twinkle lights on the patio
Summer nights by themselves are already magical. But somehow twinkle lights strung over a patio make them even more so. Sitting with my husband and good friends around a table with cold drinks in hand, good conversation, and lights overhead is my idea of the perfect evening.
3. Bare feet
It’s finally warm enough to kick off your shoes and enjoy being in your bare feet. Some of my favorite memories involve the feeling of burning my feet on a scorching pool patio or the grass between my toes. It brings me back to summers of no school and too many popsicles and running through sprinklers. (And it’s always a good excuse to give yourself a cute pedicure!)
4. Sunday morning coffee
I drink coffee every morning, but on Sundays, it feels special. When Mister Man and I get back from Sunday church, we brew a big pot for ourselves and pour a steaming mug to enjoy (black for him, a touch of creamer for her). The rest of the day is spent quietly relaxing, always with a full cup of coffee by our sides, and then somehow the prospect of Monday doesn’t seem so bad.
5. The city in the summer
There is just something about the city in the summer that makes my soul feel a little more alive. Maybe it’s because where I live in Minnesota, we are stuck inside for much of the year during our long, cold winters. But when summer hits, my city transforms. There are farmer’s markets to explore, walks to take, and outdoor festivals to enjoy. The whole city seems to be outside enjoying themselves, and you can feel the community.
Erin is a true Minnesotan (without the accent) and a Laura Ingalls wannabe who loves parentheses and ellipses…a lot. She loves to share the silliness she finds in everyday life, along with a little seriousness thrown in here and there. She is a big fan of this new adventure of marriage with her husband (who she lovingly refers to as Mister Man), prefers her gin with tonic, and believes the perfect Sunday is spent going to church and drinking coffee all the live-long day.
