I remember watching baptisms as a little girl and looking over at my dad, who is the strongest man I know, getting tears in his eyes. I was instantly intrigued and wondered what could possibly be making him emotional. Years later I now understand exactly what he was feeling. The power of Christ is absolutely insane. It is such a blessing to be able to hear about the ways God has changed lives and brought people close to him, even out of the worst situations. I now consider hearing these stories and witnessing true life change to be one of the biggest privileges I have as a Christ follower.
I’ve always been an extremely affectionate person, and nothing makes me feel more comforted than the arms of someone I love wrapped around me. After a long, hard day I want nothing more than to run home and get a huge hug from my loving mom, and that is something I don’t think I will ever outgrow. Probably one of my favorite things about my church is that you can’t walk out of the building without being smothered with hugs, a hand shake just doesn’t quite do it for us. For me giving and receiving a simple hug is the fastest way to send a feeling of love and care to another person, and what is the body of Christ without love and care?
3. Moments when people come together
Nothing inspires me more than seeing people come together. Throughout the years I’ve seen my church, my community, and my school come together for a cause or someone in need. Seeing events where everyone pitches in to help reassures me of the goodness in this world that sometimes seems very dark. It gives me hope and makes my heart full of joy.
There is something so precious about the fresh start of a new day. Mornings are a time for peace and quiet, reflection and for many of us a much needed cup of coffee. Personally, I love mornings because it’s when my thoughts are the purest and when I feel closest to my creator.
5. Nature Walks
In my opinion nothing is quite as freeing for the mind as being out in nature and truly taking in the world around us. Taking walks alone allows me to clear my head and eliminate stress. Although those are wonderful times my absolute favorite walks are the ones with the people I love. Some of the deepest and most personal conversations I’ve experienced have been while on a walk. I love the beautiful symmetry of moving forward down a path and also feeling like you’ve taken steps forward in a relationship. My favorite life experiences are the ones where I get to go deeper into the hearts of the people important to me.
