1. Learning a new language
Learning Spanish was not easy for me, but I absolutely loved it. I was usually the person who opted for easy classes because I wanted to make sure I had a perfect 4.0. However, I was okay with being average at something because I knew I would eventually get it. I loved that feeling of finally being able to understand a new language. I hope to someday teach in a Spanish-speaking country so I am very happy that I never gave up!
Rivers can be very peaceful. One of my favorite things to do is sit on my dock and read. However, they can also be extremely fun. I love heading out on the boat to go skiing, kneeboarding, and tubing. I also associate rivers with family reunions—we always have the best laughs when we’re out on the boat. Rivers bring an extra measure of happiness to my family’s life.
3. Sea Glass
Sea glass is glass that has been throne into the ocean, tumbled by the waves, and washed up on the beach smooth and bright. This always reminds me of how God tells us that he makes us into a new creation when we come to him. We come to him just the way we are, and then he makes us smooth and bright. I love wandering the beach and picking up the pieces, and making them into crafts. It makes the best gifts because many people have never seen it before—and they’re amazed by the colors of these little treasures.
I am in college studying to be a teacher so I absolutely adore children. I love their huge imaginations and that they can never seem to hold a grudge. They always find reasons to be happy and make friends everywhere they go. They never cease to teach me something new about life.
One of my favorite quotes is, “everyone smiles in the same language.” A smile reminds me that we are all connected. I love when people smile at me. It never ceases to make my day—it feels like they’re giving me a gift.
