I have a serious case of wanderlust. There are few things I love more than exploring a new place. Whether I have a detailed plan or absolutely zero agenda, I can’t get enough of finding out what is beautiful and interesting about a city. Plus, my husband is the best travel buddy out there. He’s always up for any adventure and usually busy scoping out the best local restaurants for us to indulge in while we’re visiting. But in the end, one of the best parts of travel is the newfound glory for “home.” There is nothing sweeter than returning after an incredible trip to the comforts of our warm home and precious pup, only to begin dreaming about our next destination.
Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved to create. Whether it was painting pottery, making friendship bracelets or scrapbooking, I’ve always had a project in the works. As I’ve grown older, my creative endeavors have evolved, but still come from a desire to make something beautiful and serve others through it. One day may be spent in our makeshift “wood shop” building a console table, and the next may be spent photographing a gorgeous wedding. Regardless of the craft, I love to dream up an idea and see it come to fruition, and ultimately see the joy on others’ faces when they get to enjoy the final product with me.
3. Nail polish
Nail polish has a funny way of making any day a tad bit brighter. Having a fresh coat of nail polish can make you feel like you can take on the world. I’ve found myself making Target runs for one specific item, and conveniently veering off into the nail polish aisle to see all of the new colors lined up in a row. I love to send a nail polish surprise to friends when I know they need or deserve it most. Leave it to Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping to help make someone’s day. Currently I am loving navy, burgundy and smoky gray, especially with fall right around the corner. Oh, the loveliness.
4. Comfortable friendships
Speaking of fall… fall in the South means football… and football means friends. Living in the wonderful town of Athens, GA brings friends from near and far to our home each weekend. Spending time with these people reminds me so much of the value of comfortable, never-failing friendships. God has blessed me so much with people who understand and love me for who I am. Even if my floor is covered with dog hair, I know they will show me endless grace, enjoy an incredible weekend with us, and probably even help me vacuum. Those are the kinds of relationships we’re made for.
5. Farmers markets
The colors, flavors, scents and community feel are some of my favorite things about farmers markets. It’s a true stress-reliever for me to walk through a market and take in all of the goodness. The ability of the farmers and vendors to produce such a diverse range of goodies has always fascinated me. It’s such fun to hear them share their love for food and have the opportunity to support them in their passion. Plus, a tiny mini-garden of tomatoes, mint and basil has given me a newfound appreciation for their craft. One day I hope to have a garden full of delicious things to cook from each day.
