1. Wood stoves
Winter nights were meant to be spent by a fire, preferably a traditional wood stove. I curl up with a latte, a good book, and a blanket. It’s the perfect recipe to combat the winter blues. Lately, I’ve added a scented candle on top (glass jars only!). As it melts, it fills my home with winter cheer.
2. Oyster Books
Unlimited books for $9.99 each month? Sounds like the stuff of dreams, but this is real life y’all! It’s a new service that launched in October, and is single handedly responsible for the reduction of productivity in my life. I’m gorging myself on Ann Patchett and Mark Helprin.
There’s something about a scarf. The way it dresses up a simple t-shirt, peeks out of a winter coat, or feels against my cheeks. I keep mine in a basket by the coatrack. Pick up a few of your own, the variations are endless: knitted, infinity, silk, linen, chevron, paisley, knotted, twisted, looped, and braided.
Hard, soft, apple or pear, I love them all. It’s the perfect drink when you are tired of wine, but want something a little more feminine than beer. When I’m done having a pint, I pour the extra into a batch of soup! My favorite brand right now is Kopparberg Naked Apple.
5. Dinners out
Forget fast food and take away, and say yes to sitting in a candlelit restaurant with someone I love (or just want to get to know better!). I start with a great appetizer, split an entree (or share two), and finish with something chocolate-y and a nice cup of tea. Single ladies, don’t let your status keep you from having a great date night with friends. It’s just as lovely when it’s ladies only!
