1. Twinkle Lights
I live in Las Vegas, where the strip boasts of lights and glitz. While it is a nice sight to behold, nothing beats the enchantment of twinkle lights on trees. As I walk street promenades in the evening, brisk air hitting my cheeks, I see those lights and it makes my heart flutter. I feel like an excited toddler, watching fireworks, yet the lights are small, sparkling and lovely. They make me think of Matthew 5:16 for some reason. If we are lots of small lights twinkling for Jesus, what an amazing testimony we would be to those around us!
Every time I am filled with joy or tears, all I want to do is read psalms. Whether it’s one or 16 in a row, I need to see all the different seasons of the heart of David. I love the reminder that no one is perfect and sometimes prayers can sound like a little vent-fest, but the Lord will always be faithful no matter what comes our way.
3. New Places
I am restless for traveling and finding new places! I attribute this to always hopping in the car as a child and being taken all over California by my mother. From mall to mall and beach to beach, campground to campground, resort to resort, I just loved that we always found something new to do on each excursion. This way of life as a child has caused me to very extremely antsy as an adult. I am always looking for another way to get out if town; thankfully my job in full-time ministry allots for a menagerie of adventures to Mexico, Israel, Jordan, Europe and beyond!
4. Tea Parties
I’m a prissy girl at heart, a sorority girl by choice and a debutante for life, so tea parties just thrill me! I can sit at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf with a friend in my jeans and heels and have a blast. Then there are times when I need to do a “serious tea time” with garden party attire and attend a high tea at a hotel or tea house. Add scones and Devonshire cream and let the fabulous times begin with a good friend, a sweet younger girl I’m doing an etiquette session with or a full blown tea ‘bash’ with 60 of my favorite people!
Snuggles are just the best; that is not an opinion, but a fact! As a chronic-cuddler (I’m almost certain this is not a real medical term), hugs make my day, everyday. I remember singing a song in elementary school called “Four Hugs a Day”, stating that four is the minimum- I agree! Small cuddles from children that just want you to know that you’re their favorite bless my heart. Blanket cuddling during afterglows is also a wonderful thing as you pray with a good friend and worship the Lord in spirit in truth. Hugs and cuddles are such a sweet, small and tangible way to give the love of Christ and they are a something to cherish.
Jacquelynn Marie works as a Senior Pastor’s Assistant at a local church that brings the gospel to ‘Sin City’ (Las Vegas). She loves ministering to girls of all ages, working out, shopping, traveling and adding pink, bows or glitter to anything she comes into contact with. Jacquelynn is about to embark on a journey of faith that will take her from the West coast all the way to Manhattan to be a light in dark places. She just launched her website to encourage women to shine for Jesus as Matthew 5:16 states. You can follow her many adventures with the Lord and read her weekly devotional blog at iSparkleforJesus.webs.com.
