I told you on Saturday that my life has been a little crazy recently.
I’ll give you details once I know them myself, but in the meantime, I’m so excited to give you something that has helped my body and my sanity immensely in the last few months.
My friend Robin is a Pilates instructor in real life and on her blog, The Balanced Life. She and I met through a magazine we both contributed to, and I only recently realized that she lives in Colorado — which makes me love her even more.
If you’ve been reading for awhile, you know that body image has been a hot topic in my life for the past several months, and I have to say, Robin has helped immensely.
I don’t always have time to go to the gym, and so Robin’s bite-sized videos have been perfect. They fit nicely into my morning routine, and are a great way to clear my head in the middle or at the end of a long day. But even though her workouts are short, they’re definitely hard. Every time she says to do a plank, I respond with a profanity, and then a halfhearted attempt at sticking it out the whole time. But miraculously, I’m getting stronger! (I stayed up the whole time today!!)
Usually in busy times of my life, working out gets pushed to the back burner, and I’m so grateful that in this season, that hasn’t been the case.
Robin’s workouts have been a calm space in the midst of this season, and I am amazed every time I find myself actually WANTING to exercise. That’s a feat in itself.
And so because I’m such a huge fan, I asked Robin if she would put together a video for my Lipstick Gospel readers, because I know if I’ve enjoyed her workouts this much, you will too.
I did the routine she put together today, and felt the burn in lots of different (much-needed) places.
Robin had about a million technical difficulties as she put this video together for us, and I’m simultaneously sorry that it was so much trouble, and so grateful that she won the battle against her camera to make this happen.
So Robin, thank you! And friends, get ready to get your butt kicked! 🙂
