1. Saturday Mornings
I’m not talking about just any Saturday morning – I’m talking about Saturday mornings when you have nowhere to be, you slept until 9 (but not until 11), and the coffee is brewing in the kitchen. The Pioneer Woman is cooking up a storm on the Food Network (at a low volume, because you’re still trying to wake up), and the house is otherwise quiet. I love these Saturday mornings – this sweet time before noon – because it feels like the most still time of my whole week. Those days where I’m not traveling, not running errands, and not working? I could just melt.
2. Fresh Flowers
My mom has always said that “fresh flowers are good for the soul,” and I’m behind that mantra 100%. When I’ve had time to get our apartment straightened up a bit, a bouquet of fresh, seasonal flowers are the cherry on top.
Is there anything better than having people come into your home? I’m living with my husband in a 900 square foot apartment right now, but some of our favorite evenings there so far have been the ones where we’ve thrown a game night, and crammed fifteen people around any number of different tables and surfaces that are wide enough to hold a bowl of popcorn and a few decks of cards.
4. Walks after Dinner
If I had it my way, I would eat dinner at home and follow it with a long walk around the neighborhood most every night of the week. Now that the weather is cooling down some and the humidity is dropping, I want to spend every evening outside! Taking an evening walk is my favorite way to wind down, reflect on the day, and catch up with friends or family.
Car snacks, long conversations, singing along to music at the top of your lungs, and a destination to look forward to at the end of the road…in my opinion? Well, it hardly gets lovelier than that 🙂
