Nothing makes my morning quite as complete as a cup of coffee alongside a heaping bowl of granola (obviously perfected with almond milk and a handful of berries). This is the kind of breakfast I find most fitting for mornings spent wrapped in a blanket on the porch.
2. Sleeping in
Sometimes you don’t realize how beautiful waking up can be until you get a say in the matter. After a week of letting myself wake up naturally, I’m officially a fan of sleeping in. Turning off the alarm and taking my chances of being late is, though daring, the perfect way to reward myself for surviving a long and hard week. When the sun peeks through the blinds and my body wakes itself up without the help of my iPhone, the idea of getting out of bed doesn’t sound so harsh after all.
3. Puppy snuggles
No girl can resist a puppy begging to be cuddled. After a rough day, coming home to a dog who welcomes me with kisses and whimpers is exactly the encouragement I need. Snuggling with my puppy can easily be the highlight of my day, and there is absolutely no shame in that. Sometimes a marathon of Netflix with my best canine by my side is comforting enough to get me through the most frustrating and most exhausting of days. I love that dogs somehow know exactly what would put a smile on their person’s face!
4. Changing leaves
As I drive by the same trees each day and notice how the leaves change color over time, I am so thankful for the Fall season. Taking long drives through the scenic roads of my hometown during Fall is an experience I look forward to every year. With crisp air coming in through the windows and bright red and orange trees stretching along the road before me, I feel like Fall, though perhaps requiring a light jacket, is easily the most breathtaking season of all.
5. Long hugs
Call me a hopeless romantic, but nothing is quite as soothing during the middle of a crisis as a long hug with my significant other. All fears are relieved when I’m wrapped in the arms of the person who profoundly knows and deeply loves me. The man I love gives the best hugs simply because I know his intentions behind them. He might not know how to fix everything that has gone wrong, but he certainly knows how to make me feel safe in his arms. As if it is his one and only job, he stands strong while remaining soft for me in these sweet moments. Oh, and kisses on the forehead are always a plus.
