1. Baby Smiles and Giggles
My son, William, has the best smile (and I’m so not biased). He’s such a ham, he’ll sit and play then all of a sudden just look up and me and smile. Basically, he melts my heart every five minutes. And those giggles of his. He has this great squeal and belly laugh that always bring a bit of sunshine into my day. And he is the most ticklish little baby ever, so my days are filled with smiles and giggles which is fine by me.
2. Baking Cookies
There is something so special about spending a cold winter’s afternoon in the warmth of the kitchen baking sweets. I fell in love with baking just a few years ago and now spending hours and hours in the kitchen is my favorite pastime. I especially love coconut oil chocolate chip cookies, sea salted oatmeal chocolate chip caramel pretzel cookies, and apple spice oatmeal cookies.
3. Fresh Flowers
Every week, when I shop at our local farmers’ market, I always try to save just enough cash to buy some gorgeous fresh cut flowers for my home. Especially in the winter time. They bring a sort of delicate, airy, happy feeling to the house.
4. Planners & Notebooks
I’m an odd one; a mix of an old soul and your typical millennial. I love using technology and trying new apps and blogging, of course! But I always hand write everything. And my blog editorial calendar is no exception! Writing things out helps to remember them better and I think better holding a pencil rather than typing. I also may have a slight addiction to buying notebooks, especially at Target. It’s sort of a problem.
5. Black Flats
I wear black flats year round, practically every single day. I wear them until they are scuffed and marked up and they should probably be thrown away but I just can’t part with them. They just match everything and are easy to slip on before heading out the door. And although I love buy shoes and wearing fun ones every once in awhile, there’s something comforting in wearing the same black flats almost everyday, it makes me feel as though even though everything in life may be going crazy, some things remain steady and everlasting.
