2. The Question Game
It wouldn’t be a road trip without this game. Everyone in the car (or table if you’re playing over dinner) focuses on one person and takes turns asking them a question. The person being asked waits to hear all the questions and then must answer all but one of her choosing. After all the questions have been answered… on to the next victim! This game has gotten rowdy, really deep, and also gotten me out of some awkward situations.
Last week I got the chance to stay with mine and it was so nice to slow life down and take time to hear their stories, play Sudoku, and hit up that early bird special.
The practice of deep breathing and taking in your surroundings. Use your five senses to experience the world around you and center your attention on the present. I have to do this a lot because my natural tendencies are to dwell on the past or look to the future. I’m learning that the present is where Jesus can meet us best!
5. Sun Tired
After being on the beach all day, my favorite thing is to shower and put on a huge, old, crewneck sweatshirt and sleep. I don’t know how the sun can wear you out so much but the whole napping afterwards thing is very lovely.
