1. The Sky
The sky never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes it’s so blue that it would be impossible to match the color anywhere else. Other times the clouds are billowed huge and majestic like, creating the most beautiful backdrop. My favorite is sunsets. I love the vibrant pink, orange, and yellow colors. Sometimes there is even some deep blue and purple hues thrown in. Every time I catch the sunset I can’t help but stare in wonder at the masterpiece God has created. And the night sky, don’t even get me started on how much I love the millions of twinkling stars that scatter the dark space, or the mysterious but ever beautiful moon.
2. A Good Read
There is nothing quite as enjoyable as curling up in a big, plush chair, wrapped in your favorite blanket, with a good book. I have spent many enjoyable hours in this position, putting time, worries, and distractions on hold while I get captivated in the story. Having a good book to look forward to at the end of a long day is the best.
3. New Adventures
Sometimes trying something new and getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to “wake up” and re-engage in life. New adventures allow you to live life a little fuller and let you learn about yourself, all while having fun and making great memories. My favorite adventure to date was skydiving. Wow, talk about fueling a passion to make the most of this amazing gift of life God has blessed us with!
4. Heart to Hearts
As often as we can, my best friend Mallory and I will stop at a local gas station and each get a steaming cup of hot chocolate. We will then go to a nearby parking lot and then sit in our cars and talk our hearts out. Here we unload the pressures of life, think about the future, and laugh A LOT! These are times to talk about anything and everything in a safe place with your best friend. I always leave these treasured times feeling refreshed and renewed.
Oh man do I love birthdays! These once a year celebrations are the time to get spoiled rotten and to spoil. I love the small surprises, balloons, gifts, flowers, ice-cream, special dinners, and most importantly, the love received from friends and family. And when it’s not your birthday, it’s really fun to make it special for someone else! J
