Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Kacie Wheeler. Kacie is a wedding photographer here in Nashville, as well as a wife, a beautiful writer, and a wise soul. Kacie has been one of my best friends for a long time, we have traveled the world together, been roommates, and she was the very first person who knew that a guy named Carl Wilson asked me out on a date. But we’ll tell you more about all of that in today’s episode.
I’m so excited for all that we have in store.
Today we’re talking about mission trips. Mission trips have been such a huge part of my life and such a huge part of my faith, and I have gotten about 8-gazillion questions from y’all about them and so I just knew we had to do an episode about it.
And actually, that’s exactly how today’s episode is going to work! Today, Kacie is kicking me out of the host chair, and she’s going to be asking me all of the mission trip questions we’ve received from y’all. I’m so excited about this!
Today we’re going to be talking about:
- How you know if God is calling you to go on a mission trip
- How to know which organization you should go with
- How to prepare
- What to pack
- How to raise the money
- Whether or not it’s safe to go on a mission trip
- And also whether or not it’s a good idea. We’ve heard that short-term missions sometimes do more harm than good. Is it even a good idea to go?
And that’s just the beginning.
With that said, you can listen to this episode in a few different ways. You can search “Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson” in your iTunes Podcast app (Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review while you’re there!), or you can listen in the media player below! Verses mentioned in this episode:
“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.”
Matthew 28: 19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'”
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
Romans 10: 13-15
“for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”‘
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
The song Stephanie mentioned is “Come Away” by United Pursuit
