Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

Today on the show, we’re doing something a little bit different, and I’m so excited about it. A few months ago, I had the honor of being interviewed by my new friend Jennifer Spoelma for her podcast, Feminine Foresight. I LOVED her and I loved our conversation, and I loved it so much that I wanted to make sure y’all had a chance to hear it!

I asked Jennifer if I could share this conversation here at Girls Night, and she so graciously agreed, and so that’s what you’re going to hear today! You’ll hear — this conversation still totally feels like a girls night, but it’s fun because this time, I’m the one in the hot seat.

My favorite part of our conversation was when Jennifer asked me how becoming a Christian impacted my dating life, and I paused, thought about it for a second, and then asked her, “Is it okay if we talk about sex on your show?” She was such a champ and I just love the conversation that followed.

See? I’m telling you — a total girls night.

So, with that said, you can listen to the episode in a few different ways. You can search “Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson” in your iTunes Podcast app (Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review while you’re there!), or you can listen in the media player below! You can also find it on the apps, Stitcher and Spotify!

I can’t wait to dive in. You ready? Me too!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

Our guest for today’s episode is my new friend, Ashley Lemieux. Ashley is a writer, speaker, cheerleader for women and the author of an amazing new book called, Born To Shine. She also runs an awesome company called The Shine Project, which she’ll tell us all about in this episode. You’re going to love her.

Today, Ashley’s going to be teaching us how to get unstuck in life — how to get back up when we’ve knocked down. I love this episode because in it, Ashley shares with us some really vulnerable stories of times when she’s been knocked down, when she’s gotten stuck, and when she’s thought, “How in the WORLD am I going to keep going after this?” But she has and in the process, she’s turned her biggest setbacks into her greatest strengths and she’s going to teach us how we can do that too.

Friends, if you’re feeling stuck, experiencing grief, or needing motivation to get through a difficult season, this episode is for you!

Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Kaitlin Wernet. Kaitlin is a beautiful writer who regularly contributes to She Reads Truth, the Abide meditation app, Fathom Magazine and she’s the author of a beautiful new book that I am SO excited about called The Book of Comforts.

Today, we’re chatting about where to find comfort in the midst of hard seasons. Kaitlin tells us the story of the day her entire life changed and she shares with us the practical tools she uses in her own life to work through deep rooted pain and grief.

I love this conversation, and friends, if you are in a hard season right now, I’m praying that this episode feels like a warm hug from friends who are right beside you in the midst of this. I’m praying that as Kaitlin shares her story and what she’s learned along the way, that you can feel God’s comfort wrapping you up in a whole new way.

Our guest for today’s episode is my new friend Audrey Roloff. Audrey and her husband Jeremy are the founders of a marriage blog called Beating 50 percent, and they’re the co-authors of a brand new book called A Love Letter Life. You also might remember them from the television show, Little People Big World. But however you know her, Audrey is amazing and you’re going to learn a TON from her.

In today’s episode, Audrey is sharing her very best marriage advice. Everything from increasing intimacy and connection with our spouse, to carving out time and money for date nights, to bringing romance into our marriages (even in the hard seasons) and that’s just the beginning!

You are going to LOVE our conversation. My favorite part was when Audrey shares about expectations and how clear expectations solve so many of the conflicts we face in marriage (or stop them in their tracks before they even have time to unfold!)

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

Our guest for today’s episode is my new friend, Allie Casazza. Allie is an amazing wife, mom, podcaster and business owner, helping women rid their lives of physical, calendar and mental clutter to make space for the things that are most important in life. And that’s what this episode is all about!

Today Allie is going to walk us through a process that will help us declutter our homes and destress our lives. Don’t you love that? I think we ALL need this in our lives.

I learned so much from Allie in this conversation, and just one of the things she taught me was that when we declutter our homes, it reduces our housework by 40%. 40% isn’t that insane?!

The second we finished our conversation I dove immediately into a closet to start the decluttering process, and I have a feeling you’re going to do the exact same thing. Keep me updated, okay? If you find yourself buried in a closet while you’re listening to this episode, I want to see it. Send me photos!

So, with that said, you can listen to the episode in a few different ways. You can search “Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson” in your iTunes Podcast app (Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review while you’re there!), or you can listen in the media player below! Statistics mentioned:

Eliminating clutter would reduce our housework by 40%

Most people wear 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time

Quote mentioned: “We don’t keeps things out of what if’s and fears”

The question Allie always asks herself about the things she owns:

“Is it worthy?

Allie’s three golden rules of decluttering:

Don’t walk away until it’s put in a home

Use a trash bag and walk it out to the trash can (don’t keep it in your home)

Donated or gifted items get dealt with – don’t put off for more than 3 days

Bonus tip: When decluttering, always start with your bathroom!

You can also find it on the app, Stitcher and Spotify!

I can’t wait to dive in. You ready? Me too!

Welcome to Girls Night!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!

Our guest for today’s episode is my brand new friend, Scarlet Hiltibidal. Scarlet is a wife, a mom, a writer and the author of an amazing book called, Afraid of All The Things. She’s hilarious, she’s wise, she loves Jesus like crazy, and you are going to positively love her.

In today’s episode, Scarlet is talking to those of us who totally wrestle with fear of all the things (um… this is so me) and she’s going to show us how we can find peace and rest and security and JESUS in the midst of it all.

In this episode, Scarlet tells us the story of the day when she actually came face-to-face with her biggest fear and lived through a real life tornado. And she’ll share with us why when that moment arrived, she wasn’t actually afraid.

Friends, if you’ve ever struggled with fear and anxiety and if you’ve ever wondered where to find God and security and peace in the midst of it, this episode is for you. (And in this episode, you’re going to get to hear just how much this episode was for me. I totally struggle with fear of all the things, and Scarlet’s words have helped so much!)

So, with that said, you can listen to the episode in a few different ways. You can search “Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson” in your iTunes Podcast app (Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review while you’re there!), or you can listen in the media player below! My favorite part was when she explains how to respond to dreaded interview questions like, “tell me about yourself” or “what is one of your weaknesses.” Let me tell you, friends,  by the end of my chat with Jenna, you’re going to be totally prepared to land your dream job.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
So guys, this is our last Girls Night episode of the year. I can’t believe it! But, no worries at all, we’ll be back with another season of Girls Nights in January.
Since the holidays are coming up, and since this is our last episode for the year, I knew we had to do something special.
We have a VERY special guest for today’s episode. It’s Carl’s mom, my mother-in-law, the one and only Kathy Wilson.
Now, here’s what you need to know about Kathy before we dive in. She basically invented Pinterest. Okay, that’s totally not true – not specifically. But if you’ve ever been to her house, you feel like she did. She has this unbelievable gift for hosting people, for creating a comfortable, inspiring, nurturing home that I seriously have to drag myself away from after staying with her for a few days. (I’m serious — it’s all I can do to not beg her to let us live in her basement.)
In today’s episode, she’s going to be sharing with us…

How to make our house feel like home (with a nurturing, inviting ambiance)

How to decorate our homes without breaking our budgets

How to make our homes feel warm and inviting for guests

Actually doable tricks to being a great hostess

How to make friends today that we’ll still be friends with in 30 years.

I’m so excited for you to get to hear from her.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Caroline Schandel. Caroline is a brilliant speaker, Bible teacher, & writer who just released a brand new eBook called Live Here, Love Now.
Now, do you guys have a girl in your life who’s a few years older than you that you’ve always looked up to — someone who’s wise, and wonderful, and beautiful and you’re hoping that you can be just at least a little bit like her when you grow up?
That’s how I feel about Caroline.
She’s been a mentor in my life for years, a woman who has taught me so much about who God is and about who I am because of who God is, and I am so so so happy to get to introduce you to her today.
We talk about so much in this episode:

What to do when you don’t get something you really want

How to celebrate with your friends when they get something you want

How to stay friends with your friends when you’re in different seasons of life

How to live a life of presence & gratitude

How to really step into our God-given identity

And so much more….

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night! I’m Stephanie May Wilson and I’m so happy that you’re here. Each week, I have a girlfriend over, and we talk through one of the biggest questions we have about our lives as women. We’re talking about friendships, and faith, and relationships, and self-confidence. About our calling in life and how to live every bit of our lives to the absolute full. Life is so much better, and easier, and absolutely more fun when we navigate it together as girlfriends, and I can’t wait to get started.
Today we’re doing something a little bit different.
A few weeks ago, my dear friend
Dana Marie asked me to be a guest on her new podcast, The Hope Collective Podcast. You guys have heard from Dana before here on Girls Night. She was episode #4 where we talked about finding beauty & hope in the midst of brokenness. She’s a dear friend of mine as well as an amazing writer and musician, I know y’all just love her.
So when she reached out about interviewing me, Dana very gently asked me if I might be ready to tell a story I haven’t really gotten to share much of yet.
You guys might have heard me mention a little bit about this here on the podcast, but over the summer, I realized I was really struggling with some anxiety and depression.
I’ve been wanting to tell y’all the full story of what happened, I just hadn’t figured out how to do it yet.
But when Dana reached out and asked me about this interview, I felt like this was the perfect time to really talk about it.
Guys, I have to be honest, I was SO nervous about this interview. This is the first time I’ve really told the story all at once, and it’s the first time I’ve really shared the full thing publicly. But I just love and trust Dana so much. I knew there was no better person in the world to talk about this with.
And I’m so happy I did. I loved finally getting to fully open up about what happened, and Dana was so gentle and kind to me in the process. I loved this conversation so much, the second we finished recording this interview for her new podcast, I asked her if she would mind if I also shared it with y’all.
She graciously said yes, and so this is actually a conversation we recorded for Dana’s podcast, The Hope Collective, but it’s still totally feels like a girls night.
I also have to say, this is a tender one for me to share, so please be gentle with me. But, I’m really excited to share this because when I was in the deepest parts of my depression, the thing that helped the very most was knowing that I wasn’t alone. And that’s what I hope you walk away from this conversation knowing.
If you’re struggling with anxiety and depression right now, you are not alone my friend. Not only that, but there’s help available for you. Just like there was for me. We’ll talk all about how to find that help in this episode.
Okay, you ready? Let’s dive in!

In today’s episode, we’re talking to my sweet friend Mariko Clark. Marri an amazing writer who writes about hard questions, hope, and the Holy Spirit over on her blog, MarikoClark.com. Her writing is deep and real, and always makes me cry (in the very best way), but she tells the truth about life with pinches of humor and wit and sarcasm that leave you laughing, while you’re crying. It’s just the best.
And friends, I’m so excited to share this conversation with you.
So here’s the thing: we love our people, and we want to be there for them, especially when they’re going through something really hard. But if you’re anything like me, you’re not always exactly sure how to do that.
When something bad happens, I’m always afraid I’m going to say the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing, or get in the way when what this person really needs is space. I want to be present and be there for them, but I don’t want to bother them. I want to send them something, to show them in some way that they’re not alone, but I’m never sure exactly what to send.
I just feel at a loss for what to do when my people are going through something hard.
And that’s why I love this episode so much, because it’s from the perspective of someone who has recently been there — recently gone through something really hard in her own life — Marri teaches us how to respond.
Friends, this episode is going to make you laugh, and probably make you cry, and in the end, it’s going to make you a better friend.
Marri’s thoughts on this subject have totally changed the way I love my people in hard seasons, and I’m so excited to share it with you, because I have a feeling it’ll do the exact same thing for you.
Okay, you ready? Let’s dive into my conversation with Marri.

Our guest for today’s episode is
Rachel Cruze. Rachel is a New York Times bestselling author & speaker with a heart to help others become smart with money.
And that’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about today!
Friends, I am so excited about this episode, because I know that money is something that every single one of us struggles with. A lot of the women in our community are carrying some major school and credit card debt. Others are trying to figure out how to spend less, and save more. We’re all trying to figure out if we need a budget, how to create a budget, how to stick to a budget? We’re really not sure.
I know that so many of us feel stuck or just plain lost when it comes to money, and that makes our financial lives so hard, but it makes the rest of our lives hard too. There are things we’d love to do in life, we just can’t afford it.
And y’all, that’s why I’m so excited to have Rachel on the show today.
First of all, Rachel is a friend who gets it. She’s a fellow spender who didn’t love the idea of being on a budget either. And so the things she teaches us to do are actually practical, doable, and won’t ruin our fun, it’ll actually enable us to have MORE fun!
She’s also brilliant. I left this conversation feeling empowered and excited about the prospect of taking charge of my financial life. And I know you’ll feel the exact same way.
Also… I have to say that hands-down, Rachel’s fun fact is my favorite one we’ve ever had on the show. The second she shared it with me, I knew we were going to be best friends. I can’t wait to share this episode with you.

Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Jessica Rasdall. Jessica is an author, a motivational speaker and a transformational coach to female business owners. She helps women unearth their story, and learn how to share it — turning their messes into powerful, life-changing messages.
Friends, I had the honor of meeting Jessica early this summer, and she quickly became a dear friend.
Jessica has a really hard story. She’s been through more in her life than I hope any of us ever have to go through, and she’s going to share that story with us today. But, the amazing thing about her story is that Jessica has partnered with God in such a beautiful way to take this terrible, heartbreaking thing, and to use it for unbelievable good.
Guys, we’ve all been through hard things in our lives. Every single one of us has been. But the thing about our God is that He brings life from death and beauty from ashes, and goodness from even the hardest, most broken stories in our lives. He’s done that in Jessica’s life, and in my life, and I know He can do that in your life too. I cannot wait to talk about this more!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guests for today’s episode are three of my closest friends, Emily Tuttle, Suzy Hachey, and Heather Reed.
Y’all, these women are amazing, they’re my people — some of my my best friends, my most trusted advisers, women who have been in my corner for years, and I’m so excited for you to get to meet them.
This conversation was so much fun because it happened while we were all together having a big weekend-long girls night at my house in Nashville, something that rarely gets to happen.
The four of us live in all different corners of the country and don’t get to see each other very often. (It’s the worst right? I hate being away from my people.) Yet, the amazing thing is that even though we’ve lived apart for so much of our 6-year friendship, we’re closer than ever, and that’s exactly what we’re talking about today!
We’re talking about how to find and form friendships with people who are really your people — and how to maintain and even deepen those friendships no matter how far away you live from each other.
I cannot wait to share this episode with you!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is author and podcaster, Emily P. Freeman, and today we’re going to be talking about how to figure out what our next steps are in life.
Friends, you are going to LOVE Emily. She’s wise, and wonderful, and has this way of calming us down and helping us clear space in our hearts and in our minds so that we can figure out where we’re going, what God’s saying to us, and what we need to do next.
This conversation helped me take the deepest breath, and feel so much more calm and confident about my future, and I have a feeling you’re going to feel the exact same way.
In our conversation we’re talking about:

How to make big decisions in our lives (how to know what God has for us, where we’re supposed to go, what we’re supposed to do next).

How to not feel quite so overwhelmed by these big decisions

How to feel joy, peace, rest in our lives

How to trust God when we’re in the midst of uncertain seasons

– And so much more.
Y’all, if you’re in a season of transition, or on the verge of making a big decision in your life, or just wrestling with where you’re headed in life in general, you are going to LOVE this conversation.

So, you guys have heard me say that phrase a lot, right? “Life is so much better, easier, and absolutely more fun when we navigate it together as girlfriends.” I say it constantly because I believe it with my whole heart. I believe that it’s true in every area of our lives.
It’s especially true when it comes to pursuing our dreams.
And that’s what we’re going to be talking about today!
Today I am so excited to get to introduce you to two amazing small business owners, who also happen to be two of my closest friends, and two of the women who have made the biggest difference as I’ve pursued the things I believe God created me to do in the world.
The women you’ll meet today are TahJah Harmony, a Baton Rouge-based lifestyle photographer who takes the most beautiful maternity, newborn, and family photos, and Brianna Tosta, an LA-based Travel Designer who plans the most unbelievable trips for her clients, sending them all over the world.
TahJah and Bri have been some of my closest friends for the last several years. We met right as we were each starting our businesses, and we created a business small group (also known as a mastermind.)
Friends, I can’t wait for you to meet these women. They’re wise and wonderful and inspiring and have made a huge difference in my life.
I wouldn’t be doing the work I’m doing today without them.
And you know what? I would bet if you asked every successful woman in the world, they would be able to point to some girlfriends who made all the difference for them along the way too.
All too often, we think we have to compete with each other as women. But I learned from the smartest women I know that it’s when we collaborate that we’re the most successful.
When we run our races together — helping each other, cheering each other on, working together, lifting each other up, that’s when amazing things begin to happen.
And that’s what Bri and TahJah and I have seen in our business small group over the last three years.
So today, we’re talking about friendship, and how to find your own little tribe of women. But we’re not talking about ordinary friendship, we’re talking about business friends — finding women who are in your same industry, or women with similar goals, who you can run your race with so you guys can help each other run so much faster.
Friends, if you have big dreams for your life (which I know you do, this is a community of DREAMERS!), you are going to want to hear this conversation.
We can’t achieve our dreams alone, and thank God, right? Because it’s so much more fun when we do it together.
I can’t wait to share this episode with you!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Today on the show, we’re talking with my sweet friend
Carly Kellerman, and our topic is dating. Specifically, Carly is going to walk us through how to handle some of the situations that trip us up and make us the most nervous on our first few dates with someone.
Carly is going to help us figure out who to say yes to and who to say no to when it comes to going on a date. She’ll talk to us about what to wear, and what to order at a restaurant, and (ugh, even just thinking about this gives me butterflies), who pays for the meal and how to handle that.
She’ll talk to us about the purpose of a first date and how to take some of the pressure off of ourselves, how to show someone you’re interested (or… not interested), what to do if a date doesn’t go well, how to follow up after a first date, and so much more.
Friends, Carly is wise and hilarious and an expert on this topic. I know you’re just going to love this conversation. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
This week’s episode is part 2 of a double header we’re doing with my dear friend Hanna Seymour. Hanna is the author of a new book that I just LOVE called The College Girl’s Survival Guide, and she’s also an incredible mentor, Bible teacher, and friend.
Hanna is also one of our favorite guests around here in our Girls Night community. This is the 4th episode that Hanna’s been on, and it’s because she’s just that amazing.
Now, I mentioned that this is part 2 of a double header that we’re doing with Hanna and it’s true.
A few weeks ago, Hanna and I sat down to talk about Christian relationships. Specifically, I brought her a whole list of Christian Dating rules we’re all given, and together we talked through which ones ones are true, Biblical, real, important, and which ones we can totally throw out.
I just loved our conversation, and actually, I loved it a little too much because as we sat down to talk through all of these dating rules, an hour later I looked up to realized that we’d run out of time and only gotten through half of the questions.
So we decided to split up the episode and do two parts. Last week we answered a ton of the questions we ask as we’re dating as Christian women, and this week we’re talking through the questions we ask once we’re in a relationship.
Now, if you haven’t listened to part 1 yet, absolutely go back and listen to it.

In that episode we answer questions like:
– Can Christians date for fun? Or are we only supposed to date with the intention of marrying the person?
– Is it okay to online date, or is that not allowing God to be in charge?
– We talk so much about God’s timing and God’s plan for our lives, but what does that look like in relationships? Does God pick who we marry? How does this work?
– As a Christian, can you date a non-Christian? What does it mean to be equally yoked?
– How do you find out if a guy you’re dating is a Christian without being pushy or weird about it?
– We hear that the guy is supposed to be the spiritual leader, and also the pursuer of the relationship. Are those things true? And if so, what does that actually look like played out?
And y’all that’s just the beginning.

And this week, we’re answering some of the big questions we all ask once we’re in a relationship.
Questions like:
 – Is this guy the one? How do I know?
– When is the right time to get married? How long do you have to date before you’re ready? And how do you know if you’re ready?
– Can you/should you move in together before you get married?
– Are you really supposed to wait until you get married to have sex?
– How do you set realistic physical boundaries and actually stick to them? (And what do you do if you’ve already crossed them?)
– What does it mean to guard your heart?
– What does it mean to “Keep Jesus at the center of your relationship?” and how do you do that?
– And that’s just the beginning.

See? I told you we couldn’t just stop at part one!
I’m so excited about this episode. Hanna is wonderful and wise and has such good, Biblical wisdom to share.
I also love this episode because Hanna and I talk through how we handled these big questions in our own relationships and as we were dating our husbands. We talk about boundaries, and sex, and hard conversations, and how we knew they were the one, and that’s really just the beginning.
I’m so excited for you to hear it.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
In today’s episode we’re talking with one of my favorite friends here in Nashville, author Hanna Seymour. Hanna is the author of a new book that I just LOVE called The College Girl’s Survival Guide, and she’s also an incredible mentor, Bible teacher, and friend.
Now, if you’ve been around our Girls Night community for awhile, you might have a touch of deja vu right now. Yes, Hanna has been on the show before (twice actually!) and you’re about to get to know her a whole lot better, because this week and next week are a Hanna double-header.
We didn’t plan to do that, necessarily, but I’m not sorry about it one bit.
What happened is that Hanna and I sat down a few weeks ago to talk about Christian relationships. Specifically, I brought her a whole list of Christian Dating rules we’re all given, and together we talked through which ones ones are true, Biblical, real, important, and which ones we can totally throw out.
(By the way, this conversation would have been SO HELPFUL for me back when I was dating, and I have a feeling it will be for you too!)
But the thing is, as we sat down to talk through all of these dating rules, we got so wrapped up in the conversation, that an hour later, I looked up at the clock to realize we’d run out of time and only gotten through half of the questions.
And I thought about stopping there. I really did, but as I looked over the questions we hadn’t covered yet, I knew you guys would hate it if we stopped it there. So Hanna is going to be back on the show next week with part 2 of this conversation, and trust me, you’re not going to want to miss a second of it.
Today we’ll be talking more about the things leading up to a Christian relationship:
Things like:
– Can Christians date for fun? Or are we only supposed to date with the intention of marrying the person?
– Is it okay to online date, or is that not allowing God to be in charge?
– We talk so much about God’s timing and God’s plan for our lives, but what does that look like in relationships? Does God pick who we marry? How does this work?

How do you set realistic physical boundaries and actually stick to them? (And what do you do if you’ve already crossed them?)
What does it mean to guard your heart?
– What does it mean to “Keep Jesus at the center of your relationship?” and how do you do that?
And that’s just the beginning.
See? I told you we couldn’t just stop at part one!

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Emily Tuttle. Emily is an humanitarian videographer and producer, an artist, and an advocate for people whose voices aren’t being heard. She’s just amazing, I can’t wait for you to meet her.
In our conversation today, Emily and I are going to be talking about how to show up and make a difference in our messy, broken, beautiful world, and here’s what I mean by that.
You guys know this, but all you have to do is turn on the news or go on Facebook for 2.5 seconds to see that there’s a LOT going on in our world these days. It seems like there is a new problem, a new major issue every single day, and it feels like our country disagrees more than ever about how these problems should be solved.
I don’t know about you, but I feel overwhelmed by this all the time. I feel overwhelmed by the amount of information that’s out there, I feel overwhelmed as I hear angry arguments on either side. I feel even more overwhelmed when I do understand at least part of what’s going on, because then I realize I have no idea what to do next. This terrible thing is happening and I have no idea how to help!
When I’m feeling bowled over by the brokenness of this world, overwhelmed by information, and at a total loss for how to help, there’s one person in my life that I always reach out to first, and that’s my friend Emily.
Emily is engaging in the conversations that are going on today in such a beautiful way. And she’s not just engaging in the conversations, she’s taking action. I love this about her, and I know that the world needs more of us to follow her example.
So today, Emily is going to help us figure out how.
She’s going to help us figure out how to keep up with current events without being swallowed by them, she’s going to help us figure out how to have hard conversations with people who disagree with us, she’s going to help us figure out how to help (and she’ll break right through the lie that we’re not equipped or smart or strong enough to help) and that’s just the beginning.
Now, I want to say, in a way, the things we’re talking about in today’s episode are a bit political. But, I want you to know, this is not about taking one side or another. We’re not fighting here or taking any sort of stand.
This episode is about figuring out what we personally believe, and then figuring out what to do with that belief. We’re talking about how to make the world a better place in a way that only we can.
I’m so excited for this episode.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend,
Kacie Wheeler. Kacie is a wedding photographer here in Nashville, as well as a wife, a beautiful writer, and a wise soul. Kacie has been one of my best friends for a long time, we have traveled the world together, been roommates, and she was the very first person who knew that a guy named Carl Wilson asked me out on a date. But we’ll tell you more about all of that in today’s episode.
I’m so excited for all that we have in store.
Today we’re talking about mission trips. Mission trips have been such a huge part of my life and such a huge part of my faith, and I have gotten about 8-gazillion questions from y’all about them and so I just knew we had to do an episode about it.
And actually, that’s exactly how today’s episode is going to work! Today, Kacie is kicking me out of the host chair, and she’s going to be asking me all of the mission trip questions we’ve received from y’all. I’m so excited about this!
Today we’re going to be talking about:

How you know if God is calling you to go on a mission trip
How to know which organization you should go with
How to prepare
What to pack
How to raise the money
Whether or not it’s safe to go on a mission trip
And also whether or not it’s a good idea. We’ve heard that short-term missions sometimes do more harm than good. Is it even a good idea to go?

And that’s just the beginning.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is my very best friend, Kelsey Bennett. Kelsey is an AMAZING makeup artist and the Community Coordinator for a missions organization I just love, Experience Mission
She’s also my person. I say this in the episode but if I had a Board of Advisors in life I’m pretty sure Kels would be the Chairwoman. She’s my favorite person to go to for advice, my wisest counsel, and my favorite friend to laugh with. I’m so excited to share her with you today!
And I’m so excited about today’s topic. Today we’re going to be talking about birthdays.
Tell me if this sounds familiar:
Your birthday is coming up, and you want to be excited. It’s your day, after all. It’s a day to celebrate you, and to celebrate your life, and to celebrate with your family and friends. But… “excited” isn’t always our primary emotion when we think about an upcoming birthday.
First of all, there are so many questions that come up when it comes to our birthdays: How do we celebrate them? Do we plan a party for ourselves? Do we wait for someone else to do it? Do we admit that we want to be celebrated? Do we downplay it? And if we downplay it, do we get to feel sad and disappointed when the celebration doesn’t feel as big, as personal, or as special as we were hoping it would?
Birthdays also bring up a whole lot of other things for us. They’re a reminder of the passing of time, a check-in about whether we are where we thought we’d be by this point.
I don’t know if you do this, but I definitely did. I had this idea that by the time I was 25, I’d be married. But that definitely didn’t happen.
We create these timelines in our head. We have this idea of who we should be, and what we should be doing, and when things should happen, and by what age. And that makes our birthdays really tough, because life doesn’t always go according to our plans. (Isn’t that infuriating?!)
I also know that for me, my birthday tends to magnify any loneliness or sadness I have going on in my life.
When Carl and I first moved to Nashville, my birthday magnified the fact that I didn’t have friends here yet. I felt extra lonely on that day. The sting was extra sharp.
And the thing is, I thought this was just me that had a hard time with birthdays. But two birthdays ago, Kelsey and I began talking about it, and we realized we were feeling the exact same way.
I’ve had this conversation with so many girlfriends since, and especially since my girlfriends and I just turned 30, we’ve been talking about this a lot lately. So many of us struggle when it comes to our birthdays, and that’s why I’m so excited about this episode.
After a particularly tough birthday two years ago, Kelsey and I have learned so much. We’ve learned so much about enjoying our birthdays, and we’ve learned so much about handling the hard emotions that can sometimes come along with them.
Also, Kelsey has so much wisdom to share, so much encouragement, and so many practical tips and tricks, I’m so excited to share this with you.

Hey friends! Welcome to Girls’ Night!
Our guest for today’s episode is one of my very best friends, Shannon Unger. Now, I could tell you so many things about Shannon — like how instrumental she’s been for my faith, or how whenever it would snow at night during our senior year of college, we’d put on all of our snow gear, and go play on the playground. (Playing at the playground in the snow is actually super fun, in case you were wondering!)
But those aren’t the most important things for you to know about her today. The thing you need to know about my dear friend Shannon Unger today is that she’s a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor who works with people through substance abuse, trauma, and relationship issues.
I know — way more serious than romping around in the snow. But Shannon is a real expert, and that’s exactly what we need for what we’re talking about today.
Today we’re going to be talking about relationships — how to know if you’re in a healthy relationship, and what to do if you’re not.
I’m so glad Shannon’s here today.
In this episode:

Shannon teaches us how to know if our relationships are healthy or not.

She’s going to help us identify some red flags in relationships. She’ll give us some things we should keep an eye out for.

She talks to us about abuse and domestic violence (I learned that there are way more types of abuse than we normally think of, and she’ll tell us all about that in this episode)

She talks to us about what we should do if we ARE in an unhealthy relationship

She tells us how to set ourselves up for healthy relationships in our future

And that’s just the beginning.
Guys, this is a hard episode. It’s not a light one. (We’ll have some extra light ones later in the season. I promise!). But this is such an important episode.

In this episode, Hannah and I talk a lot about anxiety and depression.
We talk about what to do when you’re feeling far away from God, or when you’re having a hard time loving yourself, or when you’re feeling like you’re just not good enough.
We talk about being a newlywed and what we’ve both learned along the way, and Hannah shares with us some really amazing encouragement having to do with singleness and online dating.

Now, if you haven’t heard of Christy or her program, the Business Boutique, before, you’re just going to love her. Christy hosts in-person conferences, speaks all over the country, has a podcast that I just love, and she’s written a book — all aimed at equipping and empowering women to make money doing what they love.
And that’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about in today’s episode.
Friends, we have wise, wonderful, world-changing women in our Girls Night community, and I know that so many of y’all have enormous dreams that you’re either in the process of pursuing, or that you want to be pursuing.
Y’all are dreaming up blogs, businesses, side-hustles, and Etsy shops. You’re dreaming up ways to use your gifts for the good of the world, for the good of God’s kingdom, and to support yourself and your families. I just love that.
But here’s what I also know: Starting a business is HARD. It’s daunting, it’s scary, it’s confusing, it’s complicated. And I know for so many of us we either don’t start, or we don’t keep going, we get stuck, because we feel like we just have no idea what we’re doing!
And that’s why I’m so happy to have Christy here today. Today I’m picking Christy’s brain — asking her all the questions I know we’re all asking about starting and growing a business. And my goodness, she has answers for us.
In our conversation, Christy talks us through…

How to find our business idea (and how to know if it’ll work or not!)

How to actually start our businesses

How to get customers (and get them to actually buy what we’re selling)

How to charge money for things (without feeling so squirmy about it)

How to work through the fear and discouragement we often feel when pursuing our dreams

And so much more. I can’t wait to share this episode with you!

Welcome to Girls’ Night! I am SO excited about the person I get to introduce you to today. Our guest for today’s episode is Laura Hertgers — my very first mentor and small group leader. You are going to LOVE her. I am SO excited about the person I get to introduce you to today. Our guest for today’s episode is Laura Hertgers — my very first mentor and small group leader. You are going to LOVE her.
There are two questions I’m asked all the time by my readers and listeners.
The first goes like this: Stephanie, how do I find a mentor?
The second goes like this: Stephanie, how do I BE a mentor?
We recognize that we need women pouring into our lives, and we want to be the kind of women who pour into other women’s lives, but if we’re honest, we have absolutely no idea how to do either of those things.
How do you ask someone to be your mentor, how do you ask someone if they want to be mentored? How do you actually go about mentoring or being mentored by someone? What do you talk about? How often do you meet? How do you figure that out? We have so many questions.
And that’s why I wanted to bring on my favorite mentor, and someone who’s honestly a mentoring expert, my dear friend Laura.
Now, Laura is amazing and has had such an impact on my life and on my faith. But the thing is, I’m not the only one. More than anyone else I’ve ever met, Laura has made mentorship a consistent part of her life — pouring into women younger than her in all kinds of capacities and through all different seasons. And in this episode she’ll teach us how to do that.
But Laura isn’t just an advocate for being a mentor, she’s an advocate for BEING mentored. Laura has made it a point to seek out mentors for herself in all seasons of life as well, and in this episode, she’ll teach us how to do that too.
Friends, I’m so excited for you to meet Laura. She’s wise and hilarious and in this episode we’ll share the story of how she met her husband and I take total credit for all of it. I can’t wait to tell you the story.

She’s a copywriter, a calligrapher, and an amazing speaker who travels all over the country teaching creative women how to tell their stories, and sharing her personal story — and that’s what you’re going to hear about today!
Today, Ashlyn’s going to be telling us the story of how she battled perfectionism, work-life imbalance, an eating disorder, anxiety, and depression.
She tells us her story of recovery, and grace, and how she’s learning to work from a place of rest not from a place of hustle, and that’s just the beginning.
Friends, I took notes like crazy during this conversation. I seriously have a whole list of things that Ashlyn mentioned in this episode that I cannot wait to put into practice in my own life.
But even more than that, as we talked, I feel like Ashlyn gave me the biggest hug. She has this way of immediately feeling like your best friend, and helping you see that you’re not alone in what you’re going through. And that’s exactly what she did for me.
Right before we jumped into the conversation, I told Ashlyn that I was pretty sure I was going to cry during this episode because we were going to be talking about anxiety on a day that I was really struggling with it myself.
Ashlyn looked me in the eye, right before we started recording, and said, “Steph, you are so not alone in this” and then I DID start crying.
If you struggle with perfectionism, if your work-life balance is totally off these days, if you are struggling with an eating disorder, with anxiety, or with depression, there’s one thing I hope you walk away from this conversation knowing: It’s exactly what Ashlyn told me, “You are so not alone in this.”

Our guest for today’s episode is my dear friend (and my small group leader!) Jessica Fralin!
Jessica is an author and a speaker, and today she’s here to talk to us all about social media and our identities — how to do one without losing the other.
I love having Jessica here to talk about this, because this has been something we just cannot stop talking about in our small group these days.
The thing is, we’re on social media to feel inspired and connected, but more often than not, those aren’t the feelings we walk away with. All too often we look up from our phones (only to realize we’ve been on them for WAY longer than we realized), and we feel empty. We don’t feel inspired, or connected, instead we feel things like FOMO, like the things we want to do in the world are already being done (and done better!) by somebody else, like we’re not good enough (not thin/pretty/popular/successful/fun/well-dressed enough) and the list goes on…
It’s something my whole small group has been struggling with, and Jessica has so much insight into this. It’s like she wrote the book on it, which actually… she did.
Jessica is the author of a book called #Stolen, which talks all about social media and identity, and in our conversation today she shares some game-changing Biblical truths, as well as some super practical tricks that have been so helpful!

I get so many emails from y’all saying, “Steph, I have listened to every episode of Girls Night, what do I listen to next?” And in response, I write back three words: The Happy Hour.
Jamie is encouraging, wise, loves God like crazy, and within two seconds of meeting her, you already feel like she’s your best friend. You guys are going to love her.
In today’s episode, Jamie and I are talking all about our pasts, and what to do with the shame, guilt, and isolation we sometimes feel because of them.
Both Jamie and I have made some pretty big mistakes in our lives, we’ve made some decisions we’re definitely not proud of. But, as you’ll hear in this episode, God has forgiveness, and redemption, and newness for all of us — He’s had those things for us, and He has them for you too.
One thing we talk about specifically is our sexual pasts. We get really honest about what it was like to share about our past mistakes with our husbands and we have some encouragement for you that I know you’re going to want to hear
So friend, if you’re sitting in some shame, in some guilt, or if you’re feeling like, “Man, if people only knew this about me, if they only knew what I’ve done…” then this episode is for you. God is going to speak to your heart in such enormous ways through Jamie. I can’t wait.

In today’s episode, we’re talking to my sweet friend Mariko Clark, or Marri, as I call her.
Marri is also on my team here, working as my assistant, and our community manager, and basically just keeping every bit of this ship running. So we’re such a fan of her, and I’m also a huge fan of today’s conversation!
Today, Marri and I are talking about rest and self-care — two things we have been learning a LOT about lately (mostly the hard way, of course!).
We’re talking about why it’s so hard for us to take care of ourselves as women, how to get over the guilt and shame that sometimes comes along with it, what God says about rest and self-care, how to rest, how much rest we actually need, how to find pockets of time where we can take care of ourselves (even in the midst of crazy-busy seasons), and so much more.
We’re also sharing a pretty big piece of news in this episode, so make sure to stay tuned until the end!
The other thing I wanted to make sure to tell y’all is that this is our last episode of Season 2 of the Girls Night podcast! I can’t believe we reached the end so fast!
We’re going to take a break for a month or two (in the name of rest and self-care, and also so we can record more awesome episodes for y’all!) but we will absolutely be back with Season 3. We’re already getting excited for it.

Now, lots of you guys might already follow along with Jess, but if you don’t, get ready because you are going to love her!
Jess is a mom to four beautiful kiddos, wife to an awesome guy named Nick, she’s leading a church plant in Charleston, and that’s just the beginning.
Jess is the founder of the All Good Things Collective, which sells gorgeous prints and resources and apparel to encourage us in our relationships with God, she’s the co-author of a wonderful book called Wild and Free and she just came out with an awesome new book called Dance Stand Run!
But none of those things are the reason I wanted to invite Jess to our Girls Night this week. I wanted to invite Jess because her relationship with God inspires me like crazy. She has this deep, connected, intimate relationship with Him, and even just getting a peek at the way she worships and learns from God inspires me to walk even deeper in my relationship with Him.
And that’s what our episode today is all about.
You’re going to love it!

Welcome to Girls’ Night! My guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Liz Norris. Liz is an Associate Professional Counselor in Atlanta, and that’s perfect because that’s exactly what we’re talking about today: Counseling. My guest for today’s episode is my dear friend, Liz Norris. Liz is an Associate Professional Counselor in Atlanta, and that’s perfect because that’s exactly what we’re talking about today: Counseling.
If you guys have been hanging out in our community for awhile, you know that I am such a fan of counseling. It’s something that has helped me so much in my life, and that’s true for pretty much every single one of my girlfriends, and all of the women I look up to the most. Counseling has been a game-changer for all of us.
Not only that, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you might have seen that I just recently started going back to counseling, and I’ll tell you why in this episode.
But here’s the thing: Because I’m such a fan of counseling, and because it’s something I recommend to pretty much everybody, I’m also totally aware that there are some big questions, and doubts, and even fears that come up when people mention the word.
When we’re thinking about going to counseling, we find ourselves asking questions like:

Does it mean that I’m really broken that I’m thinking about going to counseling?
Should I be ashamed of the fact that I think I might need help?
Do I need help? Isn’t counseling for people with really HUGE problems?
Does going to counseling mean I don’t trust God enough to help me in my life?
How does counseling even help, anyway?

And even if you’re not asking those questions, you might have questions about the logistics of finding a counselor. How do you find a good one? How do you know what to look for? How do you pay for it? There are so many factors to consider and it can feel totally overwhelming.
But that’s why I love this episode. In our conversation today, Liz and I are going to be talking through every single one of those doubts, fears, and questions. And we’ll also share with y’all what counseling has done in our lives. I’m so excited to share this episode with you.

Hanna is an amazing writer, mentor, Bible teacher, and friend. And I just love the conversation we have in store for you today.
So, here’s the deal. In just a few weeks, Hanna is coming out with her very first book. It’s called The College Girl’s Survival Guide, and can I just tell you? It’s amazing. In it, she’s answering 52 of the biggest questions and concerns we have as we’re going through college, and she knocked it out of the park.
She talks about everything from how to pick your major, to how to know if you should transfer to a different school, how to get along with your parents when you’re home over summer break, to how to navigate the party scene. She talks about roommate drama, and how to make friends, and what to do about the Freshman 15 (or the Freshman 20 if you were me in college!), and that’s just the beginning.
But here’s why I love this episode. Today Hanna and I are going to be talking through some of my favorite questions she answered in the book, and I love them because they’re not just applicable to college students. They’re applicable to all of us.
Here are just a few of the things we talk about in our conversation today:

We talk about how to find a great church and how to get involved
How to navigate transitions in a way that helps you thrive instead of feeling crushed by them
We talk about how to find and make really good friends and how who we choose to surround ourselves with might be the most important decision we ever make
Hanna gives us practical advice for how to handle difficult roommates (which is funny because that absolutely applies to every stage of life, including marriage!)
We talk about relationships — specifically friends with benefits, and what to do if you find yourself in that situation either physically or emotionally.
And that’s just the beginning.

This was such an emotional conversation for both of us. At the beginning of the conversation, Hanna shares an embarrassing story that actually had me crying I was laughing so hard. And toward the end of our conversation, we both actually cried as Hanna talks about what to do if you find yourself in a situation that happens FAR TO OFTEN both in college and after — she talks to us about sexual assault and rape.
This is a big, important conversation for all of us — whether you’re a college student, or you graduated a long time ago. I’m so excited to share it with you.

Welcome to Girls’ Night!   I am so excited for what we have going on this week. Put on your comfiest sweatpants and order a pizza, because this week might be the girls night of all girls nights, and here’s why.
I am so excited for what we have going on this week. Put on your comfiest sweatpants and order a pizza, because this week might be the girls night of all girls nights, and here’s why.
In today’s episode we’re talking about our bodies as women. Specifically, we’re answering a whole bunch of the questions we have about our bodies that most of us are too shy, too embarrassed, or too uncomfortable to ask. This is going to be AWESOME.
The reason we’re talking about this at Girls Night this week is because this is something my girlfriends and I actually talk about at our girls nights in real life. We talk about tampons, about our boobs, about waxing, and so much more. And you know what? I’m SO GLAD. Because our bodies are tricky, and confusing, and sometimes feel really embarrassing. And they feel even more embarrassing when we think we’re the only one asking these questions. But we’re not, and that’s why I love talking about these things at girls nights, and why I wanted to talk about these things here at OUR Girls Night.
Now, I have to tell you, our guest for today could not be more perfect. Here today is my real life friend here in Nashville, Ann Garvey. Now, I don’t know if you guys have this friend, but Ann is the kind of friend you just know you can go to with all of your embarrassing questions. She never blushes, you can’t embarrass her, and she will never ever judge you or make you feel stupid or gross. Not only that, but she’s HILARIOUS and so much fun, which makes it so much easier to talk to her about weird or embarrassing things.
And you want to know the best part about Ann? She actually has answers. Ann is a women’s health professional here in Nashville, and she’s brilliant. She knows so much about our bodies as women, and so I just knew she was the perfect person to have this conversation with!
I can’t wait to share this with you.

Welcome to Girls’ Night! Our guest for today’s episode is a woman I’m just so inspired by. Her name is Beth McCord and she is an Enneagram coach! Now listen, you may be thinking, “A what coach, Stephanie?” Well, Our guest for today’s episode is a woman I’m just so inspired by. Her name is Beth McCord and she is an Enneagram coach!
Now listen, you may be thinking, “A what coach, Stephanie?”
Well, the Enneagram is a personality assessment that more and more people have been talking about lately. The way I have come to understand it, it’s designed to do two things.
1. It helps us get to know ourselves better, which I just love.
2. It helps us overcome some of the road blocks in our lives and become the best versions of ourselves — and I love that even more!
It also helps us better understand and empathize with the people in our lives, and that’s amazing too.
Now, I don’t know how you feel about personality assessments. Maybe you’re a huge fan of them, maybe you’ve never taken one, and maybe you’re rolling your eyes as you think, “Ugh. This again?”
But listen — there is a reason I wanted to share about this in one of our Girls Nights.
God has been using the Enneagram in my life in HUGE WAYS over the last several months.
I started learning about it and took the assessment back in September, and I did it for a few reasons. But the biggest one was that in a few areas in my life, I felt stuck. There were these frustrations that kept cropping up, these things that kept making me feel sad, or hurt, or anxious, or insecure. I kept tripping into the same situations, and I couldn’t find a pattern in any of it. I felt like I kept running into the same wall, and I wasn’t sure what the wall even was, or how to get around it.
And then I found the Enneagram.
The Enneagram has helped me understand my heart and my mind and my personality SO MUCH BETTER. It’s helped me identify areas where I’m really strong and gifted, areas that I need to work on, and it helped connect the dots between those frustrations and situations I was experiencing. It also has given me such a personal roadmap for how to grow into the healthiest, freest, and most vibrant version of myself. It’s been a game-changer for me.
And that’s why I just KNEW I had to share it with y’all.
Friends, I’m so excited to put this tool in your hands, because I know if you use it, it’ll make a big difference in your life and in your relationships, and so I’m so excited to get started.

Today, my sweet friend Marri is hopping back into the host chair, and interviewing me! But she’s not just interviewing me. I’m not in that guest chair alone. Sitting right next to me is my sweet husband, Carl Wilson. That’s right, we have a boy here at Girls Night, but I promise, he’s worth the invite.
In our conversation today, Marri is asking Carl and I all of the questions we’re asked most often by my sweet readers and listeners — questions we rarely get a chance to answer! We’re going to be sharing how we met, all about our first date, how we knew each other was the one. We’ll be sharing our best dating advice, our best advice for how to prepare for a really great marriage, and so much more.
This conversation was so much fun. Carl is hilarious and so so wise, I cannot wait for you to get to know him better.

Diana is a sweet friend of mine, as well as an amazing (and HILARIOUS) writer. She’s also the founder of an online community for women who are seeking to learn about their Biblical identity called, Because I’m His!
You guys are going to love Diana, and you’re going to love our conversation, because in it we’re talking all about transitions.
Diana has been through quite a few transitions in life lately — graduating from college, moving back home to live with her parents, moving across the country, quitting one job to start another, and that’s just the beginning.
Not only has she been through so many transitions, but she has such a heart to help women just like us walk through those transitions, and walk closer to the Lord in the process.
This conversation is extra special to me because in it, I get to share the story of a few major transitions I have been through in the past few years. They’re stories I don’t get to share often enough, but they’ve really shaped me, and Carl, and our lives today, and our marriage. I’m so excited to tell you about them, and to share what God did through them.

Gennean is actually one of the reasons I officially decided to start this podcast last fall! She and I went to dinner and had the very best conversation, and I walked away so inspired, so encouraged, so excited about God and this beautiful life we’re all living, and I wished more than anything that y’all could have been there at the table with us to hear the stories she was sharing with me! (Which is how I knew I had to start a podcast! These conversations need to be heard!)
In this episode we talk about God, and how to hear from Him, and how to know what He’s telling you to do. We talk about finances and how we’ve both gotten out of debt so we can freely pursue our dreams. We talk about learning to love ourselves for who God created us to be. And we talk about how to live our lives to the absolute full — which is what Gennean is doing x10000! God has her on the most beautiful adventure right now. I can’t wait for you to hear about it!

Welcome to Girls Night! In today’s episode, we’re talking with one of my favorite friends here in Nashville, author Hanna Seymour. Hanna is an amazing writer, mentor, Bible teacher, and friend. And today, In today’s episode, we’re talking with one of my favorite friends here in Nashville, author Hanna Seymour. Hanna is an amazing writer, mentor, Bible teacher, and friend. And today, we’re talking to her all about… get ready for it…  sex.
Sex is such an important part of our marriages, and it’s something we RARELY talk about as girlfriends, but Hanna and I think we need to talk about it more. We need the chance to ask questions, to get advice and encouragement from girls who love Jesus and love their husbands and who are figuring this out too. And that’s what this episode is all about.
I was just telling a friend about this episode, and I described it to her as, “All the things you wish your big sister had told you about sex as you were getting married.”
We’ll be talking through questions like: What if you don’t want to have sex as much as you thought you would, or should you be wearing lingerie every time? What do you do if sex is awkward, or even hurts? How do you get better at sex? How do you get yourself (or him) in the mood? How often should you be having sex? And so much more.
I’m telling you, this is girls night to the max.
This conversation has been so healing and helpful and encouraging for me, and for Hanna, and for so many of my girlfriends. I know it will be for you too.
Now, just a disclaimer: This episode is specifically geared towards sex in the context of marriage, which I know leaves some people out.
But, here’s what I want to say about that.
1. You don’t have to be married to join us for this conversation. I think it’ll be helpful, and encouraging, and beneficial either way.
2. We talk a lot about how to handle our sex lives as single women in my course Make The Most Of Your Single Life. So if you could use some advice and encouragement in that area, I’d love for you to join us for the course in February!

I’m chatting with Mackenzie Wilson and Mackenzie Baker today, the founders of Delight Ministries! Delight is a nationwide ministry that invites college women into Christ-centered community that fosters vulnerability and transforms stories. Yes and amen to that! I am such a fan of Delight, and I’m so excited for y’all to get to hear from the amazing Mackenzies behind it!
In our conversation, we’re going to be talking about how to grow deeper in your faith and how to find and really connect with a community of women. They’ll also be telling us the backstory of how they started Delight Ministries and sharing with us encouragement and tips they’ve learned along the way for those of us who are dreaming about starting something too!
I’m so excited to share our conversation with you!
The other reason I’m so excited about this episode is because in it, I got to have the Mackenzies weigh in on a question I’m asked all the time.
I consistently get questions from my readers and listeners about how to keep your faith strong in college. And I totally get it — college is hard, and keeping your faith strong in college is even harder. But I’m so happy that we get to hear from the Mackenzies on the subject because to tell you the truth, I don’t have a great answer to that question!
I had almost graduated college by the time I became a Christian. I walked through most of my college career without Jesus, and so while I’m totally familiar with TONS of the struggles of being in college, trying to keep your faith strong in the midst of them just wasn’t something I was trying to do! So I am so happy to have them weigh in. I can’t wait for you to hear their thoughts and advice!

Welcome to Girls’ Night! In today’s episode, we’re talking to my sweet friend Kaitlin Wernet. Kaitlin is a beautiful writer who regularly contributes to She Reads Truth, as well as writing on her own blog about grace and grief, In today’s episode, we’re talking to my sweet friend Kaitlin Wernet. Kaitlin is a beautiful writer who regularly contributes to She Reads Truth, as well as writing on her own blog about grace and grief, adventures and friendship, and so much more.
You guys are going to love Kaitlin. She is brilliant, and warm, and wise, and funny. She loves God with her whole heart and has helped thousands of women get to know Him better. Kaitlin is also such a dear friend of mine, and because we moved here at just around the same time, Kaitlin and I were some of each other’s first friends here in Nashville!
And actually — that’s what we’re talking about in today’s episode! We’re talking all about friendship — specifically, how to make new friends as an adult, because I know I’m not telling you anything new when I say it can be SO TRICKY!
Carl and I moved to Nashville about two and a half seconds after we got married, and I have to tell you, it was the loneliest season of my entire life.
And that sounds crazy to say, right? I had just gotten married to the best man I know, and our marriage was so good right from the start. But I found out really quickly that marriage doesn’t replace the need for really great girlfriends, and for the first time in my life, I didn’t have any! (Well, I didn’t have any in my state, anyway!)
And so I began a long journey of learning how to make friends all over again, and not long after, that’s when I met Kaitlin. She had just moved to Nashville and was on the same friend-making journey as I was.
Friends — we have learned so much along the way. How to meet new girls, how to get to know them better, how to put yourself out there, how to find and form the kind of community you’ve always wanted. And we can’t wait to share all of that with you.
So today as you’re listening to today’s episode, maybe you just moved somewhere new like we did, or maybe your friends have moved away or moved into different seasons of life. Maybe you’ve never had the close-knit friend group you’ve always wanted but you’ve decided that you really want to invest in a community. Whatever your circumstances, I know that we could all use more great girlfriends in our lives, and today Kaitlin and I are going to be sharing our very best tips and tricks for how to get there.

Kelsey is a wife, a mama, the assistant director of my favorite college ministry, and an amazing makeup artist! (She did my makeup for my wedding!)
Now, if you’ve read my book, The Lipstick Gospel, you may be wondering, is this the same Kelsey? And it totally is!  She and Michelle and I studied abroad in Spain together and I talk about them both in my book! You are just going to love her.
Kels is amazing — she’s my go-to person for advice about pretty much every single area of my life, especially my relationship with God, and that’s what we’re going to be talking about in today’s episode.
One of the questions I get more than any other from my sweet readers and listeners is, “How do I get closer to God? How do I get to know Him better?” and that’s what we’re going to be talking about!
We’re going to talk about how to have a quiet time, what that even means, how to journal, and pray, and read your Bible (in a fun way, I promise!). We’ll be sharing some really practical and actionable ways for you to connect with God more deeply and we’ll be sharing what our quiet times look like these days. You are just going to love our conversation.

Welcome to Girls’ Night! In today’s episode, we’re going to be talking to my very best friend in the whole entire world, Michelle. Now — if you’ve read my book The Lipstick Gospel you might be wondering, is this “THE” Michelle? In today’s episode, we’re going to be talking to my very best friend in the whole entire world, Michelle. Now — if you’ve read my book The Lipstick Gospel you might be wondering, is this “THE” Michelle? And it totally is. Michelle has been my best friend since we were 8 years old, and honestly, she knows WAY too many ridiculous, embarrassing, and even incriminating things about me for me to have invited her onto the podcast. But she only shared a few of them, so I think I’m safe. 🙂
But really — you guys are going to love her. She’s hilarious, and warm, and wise, and just has this way of coming alongside you in life that makes the journey so much easier and more fun. She’s done that for me for 20 years now, and I’m so excited that she gets to do that for you today too.
In today’s episode, we’re going to be talking about breakups — how to survive them and even how to thrive.
Michelle and I have both been through our fair share of breakups (more than our fair share, I think), and we’ve learned so much along the way: What to do, what not to do, what helps, what doesn’t, things that comforted us along the way, things that helped us get over it, and more. Best of all, we’re going to be talking about God’s redemption in all of this — how He’s able to transform these broken pieces of our lives into something positively beautiful.
He’s done that in our lives, and we KNOW He wants to do that in yours too.
One thing I wanted to say before we jump in is that I know lots of y’all have been through hard breakups, but I also know that some of you may have broken hearts in different ways. Maybe you just lost a job or had a falling out with a friend. Maybe you’re mourning the death of a dream or even a loved one. Well — in this episode we’re going to be talking about breakups from relationships, but these ideas and principles apply to so many different types of broken hearts. So regardless of what you’re going through right now, I’m so glad you’re here.
My prayer is that this conversation brings you so much comfort as you know you’re just not alone in what you’re going through, peace as you’re reminded that you WILL make it through, and hope as you get to see that God NEVER leaves things broken for long.

Brianna is the boutique travel agent behind Milk and Honey Travels, which means she’s a travel connoisseur/genius, who helps people go on amazing trips. She helps them figure out what kind of experience they want to have, and then she actually makes it happen!
Bri’s also one of my favorite friends — wise, and funny, and the one who always knows the best places to eat and watch a sunset — so my favorite kind of person. You guys are going to love her.
I’m so excited for you to meet her today because she’s going to be sharing some really practical, actionable tips and tricks to help us make travel more a part of our lives.
I told y’all this at the end of the last episode, but Carl and I are actually in Europe right now — on a trip planned by Bri — but until Bri got involved, we seriously were having the hardest time making this trip a reality. And I know you guys have been there.
If you’re anything like me, you love to travel, and you want to see the world, but it’s expensive and inconvenient, there’s NEVER a good time to go. It just can feel impossible.
Well — that’s why I’m so excited to have Bri here on the podcast today. She’s going to help us break through our roadblocks, and our fears, and she’s going to help us become women who travel. YES AND AMEN TO THAT!

I just love that, and I’m so excited for you guys to get to hear from her today!
In this episode, Jordan and I are going to be tackling the topic of comparison. Tackling it because honestly, we wish it would just go away, and I know we’re not the only ones. This was a really vulnerable conversation for us, and I’m really excited to get to share it with you.
If you’ve ever compared yourself to your girlfriends, or felt like there wasn’t room for you in an area of the world because there are already people doing what you want to do, or if you’ve ever felt not good enough or like you don’t measure up, know that you are definitely not alone. In today’s episode, I’m chatting with my sweet friend, Robin Long. Robin is a pilates instructor and the creator of an online community called The Balanced Life where she provides quick and efficient online workouts for busy women. Robin is passionate about empowering women to feel good in their own skin, and that’s exactly what she does!
You guys, I am SUCH a fan of Robin’s, and I asked her to be on the podcast because of a conversation I’ve had with a lot of my girlfriends and readers and listeners lately.
So many of us have come to this place in life where we’re just not in the shape we want to be in. We’re not as healthy as we want to be. It happens for a lot of reasons — we just had a baby, or are going through a major life transition, or we’ve just been busy and focusing on other things! I don’t know if you’ve ever found yourself in that place (I know I have!) but it’s really discouraging. We know we want to make some life changes, we want to feel better, healthier, and more confident in our skin, but it feels like a giant uphill battle to actually get there.
That’s exactly where I found myself a few years back, and Robin was instrumental in the process of me getting healthy again. She has some amazing tips and insights — practical ways to make health and fitness a part of our lives (that are actually doable!) and to really help us feel confident and comfortable and beautiful in our skin.
You are going to LOVE this episode. I left my conversation with Robin feeling so encouraged and inspired and I know you will too!

Marri is a dear friend of mine, Hi friends!
Welcome to the first official episode of Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson! I am so glad you’re here!
In our first full-length podcast episode, I’m chatting with writer, Mariko Clark. Marri is a dear friend of mine, as well as a member of the Stephanie May Wilson Team! (Seriously — none of this would be possible without her!)
In this episode, we’re answering a question I receive from my readers at least once a week. The question goes something like this:
“I’m head over heels for a guy friend of mine, and I have no idea how he feels. I think he might like me, but he hasn’t said anything or asked me out, and so I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to tell him how I feel, because I don’t want to ruin our friendship, but I really do like him! This is such a confusing middle ground. What do I do? How long do I wait for him to ask me out? How do I move forward?”
Fortunately (and unfortunately!) I happen to know a LOT about this subject. This is a question I’ve asked several times throughout my life, and I’ve learned so many lessons along the way. So in this episode, I’m going to be sharing the story of my Friendlationship (I haven’t gotten to share this publicly before! Y’all will be the first to hear it!), AND I’m going to be sharing how I handled it — the things I did well, and the things I wish I would have done differently.
If you’re in this situation right now, my hope is that you  get to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you’re not alone, and that you walk away with some really practical tips and tools for moving forward.
If you’re not in this situation right now but have a friend who is, go ahead and share this podcast episode with her! Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for our friends is to say, “Hey, I see you, I’m with you, and here’s something that might help!”

We’re going to be talking about friendships, and faith, and relationships, and self-confidence, about our calling in life and how to live every bit of our lives to the absolute full. I’m just convinced that life is better, and easier, and absolutely more fun when we navigate it together as girlfriends, and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing each week in the podcast!

Here’s what this very first episode is all about:
In this first episode, you’ll meet your host, author Stephanie May Wilson, and she’ll give you an introduction to all things Girls Night. She’ll tell you what the podcast is all about, as well as what you can expect for this first season!
You’ll get to hear the stories that inspired the podcast (Which, I don’t want to give it all away, but the stories include super comfy sweatpants, lots of pizza, and awesome conversations with best friends!). She’s also going to share the insecurity that almost kept her from starting the podcast at all. We have a feeling you’ve felt that same insecurity, and so as she breaks right through it, she invites us to as well.
You’ll be able to find the podcast in your iTunes Podcast app in the next few days, but in the meantime, you can listen to the introduction episode below!
I cannot WAIT to share this with you!
You ready?? EEK! Me too!
Welcome to Girls’ Night!
All my love,
Stephanie
