Jesus came into my life 3 years ago and turned on the twinkle lights… It’s like he told me to change into a pink sparkly dress and since then we’ve been dancing under a blanket of lights. He dips me and twirls me and lifts me up so I can see the heavens. In a world and life that can never be perfect, I found the perfect partner. I love Him and He loves me.
2. Being a girl
My favorite chapters in the Bible are Genesis 1 and 2. I love how magical and romantic it all seems. I can just picture God conducting everything into place – bright white light exploding at His command. But, my absolute favorite part is when He notices that in all its magnificent splendor something is still missing. He says, “It is not good for man to be alone,” and with delicate care and the flare of a master artist He creates woman. Women are the crown of God’s creation and I think He looks at us with a special twinkle in His eye. I love being God’s little girl. I love wearing pink and drinking champagne and getting excited about beautiful things! I love to dance and sing and I crave love almost as much as I crave chocolate…There are a lot of hard things about being a woman. The presence of sin is so evident in this world and the longing for our savior’s return can feel like a deep unexplainable ache. But in the midst of broken hearts and the heavy pressure to be perfect, I think we just have to remind ourselves that we are God’s little girls and He has unimaginable plans for us.
I’m the kind of girl that is tickled head to toe with the fun that comes with being feminine. I have a closet packed full of pink, gold, and fire engine red, and one of my favorite things about myself is that I started playing dress up when I was 3 and never really stopped. But, I’m also the kind of girl that loves a real adventure. You know, the kind of adventure where you feel your soul jump up and down because it’s so excited by God the Creator’s genius and creativity. The kind of adventure where you fall asleep surrounded by uncountable stars shooting across the sky or the quiet rushing of an icy cold river. The kind that reminds you how to smile and play, and you wake up with messy hair burrowed deep in a fluffy sleeping bag and don’t bother to brush it the rest of the day. This world He made is so intricate and full of texture and color and I think it’s calling out to us, daring us to listen for God’s deep voices calling, “Oh darling, let’s be adventurers”.
Ah, romance… To me, there is nothing more magical. It’s this intoxicating recipe that takes your breath away and sends chills through your body as your heart beats out of your chest. It makes you want to skip and dance and twirl in circles, and at the same time you want to freeze time and wrap yourself in the moment. Romance is rare and precious and here’s a secret often overlooked…romance is from GOD. God made romance and He made us to be romanced. Whether it be old movies or a first kiss or a grand adventure – GOD. IS. THERE. And I think He’s whispering, “I love you.”
5. Cozy Fires
I grew up in a small mountain town that gets blanketed with heavy white snow every winter. My family’s home has this great old wood-burning fireplace with overstuffed chairs around it and a coffee table covered in a never-ending puzzle. Some of the best memories I have from my childhood are of me and my mom and sister cuddled up in front of the fire watching old movies with a warm cup of tea and a deep bowl of buttery popcorn.
