I’m convinced there’s nothing sweeter. I got to spend this last weekend watching two of my most incredible friends marry each other, and I cried like a baby through the whole ceremony. I laughed and twirled and held hands with my loved-ones as we watched a family come together, under twinkling lights, right before our eyes.
I turned 25 this week and was told by my boyfriend not to make any plans. I walked down the stone steps to my apartment building’s community pool and was greeted by 20 of my closest friends. The tables were dotted with tea lights and there were little treasures everywhere. I played with bubbles and blew tiny pinwheels, and laughed with my boyfriend as he manned the grill and played the gracious host. At the end of the night, he surprised me with sparklers and a bonfire. We sat around by the light of the flames as everyone showered me with more love than I could hold in my overflowing heart. It was the best birthday I could have imagined. 25 is off to a great start.
For someone who’s a decent photographer, I’ve always been really bad at Instagram. I never capture moments right and the colors always seem to be off. Well lately that’s changed. Some combination of apps and diligence has begun to produce Instagrams that I actually want to share – tiny, square snippets of my color-bursting life. It’s been so fun to get to capture those small moments and to finally do them justice.
4. Warm summer nights
I ate dinner on a patio last night, tucked in between the buildings that sprinkle Atlanta’s skyline. The breeze was warm and balmy and I didn’t even need a sweater. The air smelled clean and sweet and sparked that familiar tingle of anticipation that summer is right around the corner.
5. Best friends
I am convinced that I have the best friends in the world. They came into town for the wedding this weekend and I hadn’t seen them in months. We laughed until we cried, telling old stories and telling the same jokes we’ve told for years. My soul breathed a sigh of bliss as I was reminded of the incredible people that fill my life. There’s no one like them and I’m at my happiest when they’re around.
