1. Vanilla Latte
I’m a coffee lover in general but one of my motivations to get out of bed in the morning is knowing a homemade vanilla latte is just minutes away. The perfect splash of vanilla, steamed milk and 1 ½ shots of espresso from my handy espresso machine is the best way to start a morning, especially for a non-morning person like myself. I can smell it’s soothing aroma now! A vanilla latte usually revolves around my quiet time, reading, great conversation with friends, meeting a new client, or FaceTime with my husband (I’ll get to that below). It channels all good things.
2. Blush Peonies
A blush colored peony captures what I would define as lovely. It’s gentle, intriguing, fresh, and gorgeous all in one blossoming flower. I am 100% one of those girls who’s day can be brightened with a simple bouquet of fresh flowers. Peonies in particular remind me of one of my best friends and I love my girlfriends. She and I share this love of blush peonies, so between our birthdays and “just because” gifts, peonies will always make it into our homes each year.
3. Country Song
There is nothing like the perfect song coming on the radio to compliment your mood and for me it’s almost always a country song. Whether it’s Tim McGraw’s “Telluride” or Hunter Haye’s “Wanted” (am I too old to admit I love his music?), I will blast the song in my car, walking the dogs, or in my (home) office. I’m a born and raised Southern California girl, but I believe my heart and my country-music-loving-ears belong in Nashville!
4. Pine Trees
Any chance to be outside I will take it! I am obsessed with the smell of pine trees, especially because it usually means I’m in the fresh air enjoying a hike with my dogs. Pine trees emerge from some of my favorite memories: the day I moved to Colorado for college; my first trip to Telluride with my family; a weekend church camp; the day I got married in the mountains…I could go on and on. To this day I’m in awe that the slightest scent of pines can jolt me back into those beloved memories. Plus, pines smell like Christmas, and who doesn’t love Christmas?!
5. Man in uniform
I will admit, I’m totally biased! My fun-loving, a bit nerdy, and oh-so-handsome husband is an Air Force pilot. To this day one of my favorite things is the sight of him coming home safely in his uniform. It’s almost ironic to list anything to do with the military as one of my loveliest things because in all honesty many times it brings the most trials and heartbreak, but it also has brought some of the most memorable moments with my husband and my faithful God.
