1. Encouraging Words
Encouraging Words are a wonderful thing to receive. I don’t believe there is one person that would be upset to hear that they are doing a good job at an activity or that someone is proud of them. I love receiving an encouraging word from my peers and my family, but what is even better than that, is to give an encouraging word. I know for me that I feel so rewarded by building someone up in a hard time. This world is a harsh place to live and being an encourager brings light into others lives as well as your own, and that my friends is a lovely thing.
Hammocking is defined as the act of setting up your hammock and laying in it. I feel it’s pretty self explanatory. Thanks to portable hammocks you can put your hammock almost anywhere. My favorite is putting it up in a park and people watching. You can also read a book, take a nap or just hang around. In most college communities it’s becoming a very social thing to do. Although for me it’s my favorite way to escape reality.
3. Jesus Calling
Jesus Calling is near and dear to my heart. I was given this book by Sarah Young during one of the hardest times of my life. It has really changed my perspective on things. There is nothing like opening it up and reading about the truths of our mighty and powerful God. This book constantly reminds me that God will never leave me and gives me great peace.
4. Friends turned to Family
My family truly is a tremendous part of my life. They bring me so much joy and support, without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. When I decided to attend a University that was ten hours from home it caused me great anxiety. Thankfully I have been blessed by the best friends a girl could ask for. They eventually turned to family. I can’t imagine my life without them. We are constantly supporting each other, laughing together, drinking way too much coffee together and eating A LOT! I would have never survived an entire semester away from home without these lovely girls that turned into my family. I will be forever grateful for them.
5. Home-cooked Meals
My mother is the greatest cook. Coming home from college and getting her home-cooked meals has been one of the best parts of my summer. No offense to the wonderful University I attend, but the Caf gets old. Though, it’s more than just the food, it’s sitting at the table as a family and talking about our day. It’s the fact that even after a long day at work my mom cares so much for us that she will slave in the kitchen to make us a good meal. The food is great and so are the things that come along with it.
