A question we get asked all the time from women in our community is what prayer journal for women we would recommend! We love this question because prayer journaling is one of our very favorite things. It’s a powerful tool to help you reflect and grow in your faith with God.
It’s also the most rewarding feeling when you can look back at the prayers you’ve documented and see where God showed up in the midst of your story.
The truth is there are so many amazing prayer journals out in the world, but here are just four of our favorites (including two that are available in the SMW shop)!
Prayer journals for women:
1. Val Marie Paper Signature Prayer Journal
Val Marie Paper has multiple prayer journals in their shop, but we especially love her Signature Prayer Journal. It’s a beautiful, hard-cover 6-month journal that has space for you to write your daily prayers and a “God Speaks” section for learning to wait on His voice. The journal helps you organize your prayer requests into different categories like My Church, My Community, The Heavy, Personal, Big Goals, and more. Another feature of the journal is a gratitude and conversation section after each month’s prompts.
The journal cover comes in multiple colors so you can choose one that best fits your personal style! There’s even a pocket in the front cover where you can hold notes or pictures.
If you’re looking for a journal that is simple to use and helps you organize your prayers into categories, make sure you check out the Signature Prayer Journal!
2. Well-Watered Women The Unshaken Faith Journal
Another prayer journal for women we just love is from Gretchen Saffles (P.S. we’ve had her on the podcast before!) over at Well-Watered Women called, The Unshaken Faith Journal.
This is a gorgeous journal that helps women process their prayers through the example of David in Psalm 55. It also includes seven devotions throughout the journal to help you process your prayers of worry, stress, and grief. It's a beautiful keepsake to help you write out all the things you've been feeling.
The journal is case-bound and has gold-foil floral artwork and lettering on both the front and back of the cover. It's seriously so beautiful and we cannot recommend it enough!
3. Every Single Moment by Stephanie May Wilson (me!)
For the longest time, I couldn’t find a prayer journal that was specifically written for single women, so I decided to make one myself!
The Every Single Moment prayer journal was designed to help women connect with God through prayer in a whole new way. This 100-day guided journal includes prayer prompts that will help you heal from the past, grow in the present, and find joy, peace, and purpose in your life today.
You can also use this as a tool to cover your future husband and marriage in prayer. That way you can look back and see God’s hand in the midst of your love story!
And as an added bonus, the journal is beautiful with a soft, linen cover and printed with rose-gold foil, so it can double as a cute coffee table book or accessory for your home!
P.S. So many women in our community have gifted this journal to their single friends or family members, and we just love that idea!
4. The Between Places by Stephanie May Wilson (also me!)
The final prayer journal for women that we want to highlight is my most recent journal, The Between Places. This beautiful 100-day prayer journal is for you, for all of us, as we navigate the between places of our lives.
This prayer journal means so much to me because I wrote most of it as Carl and I were walking down a long road of infertility and then through IVF. I had no idea what the outcome was going to be, of course, and had to learn to trust God in a whole new way — and these are the prayers I was praying in the midst of it all.
I created this resource for myself, and for you, and for all of us who are navigating uncertainty about our futures.
This prayer journal is for the woman who is single and wondering if she's ever going to find her person, and for the woman who's dating someone and wondering if this person is “the one.”
It's for the woman who has worked in the same career for several years now, which has left her absolutely sure that this is not what she wants to do for the rest of her life. Which brings up the question, what does she want to do?
It's for the woman who's wondering if she's ready to have a baby, and also for the woman who's trying to grow her family and finding that it can be a lot harder than we sometimes imagine.
It's also for the woman who is just feeling the weight of uncertainty in this season of life we're all in right now — feeling like the whole world has turned upside down these past few years, taking her plans and any sense of security right along with it.
It's a prayer journal to help us all trust God with our futures, so if that’s what you’ve been looking for, make sure you head to the SMW shop and grab this journal!
(Psst…it’s also a stunning forest green color with printed gold foil, like something you’d find at Anthropologie, so it’s another book you can use to accessorize your home!)
Friends, we hope these four different styles of prayer journals will help you find the one that works best for you and your season of life! We think prayer journaling is something every woman should try, and choosing any of the journals above would be the perfect way to get started!
